With the rollout of the “Johann Wolfgang,” the student association StarkStrom Augsburg e. V. presented its race car prototype for this year’s Formula Student this May. BMKyourproto, part of HANZA BMK, supported the team from the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg by providing electronic assemblies.

When a functioning assembly is created from a vision in a very short time, precision, experience, and speed are essential. These strengths are embodied both by StarkStrom Augsburg e. V. in its Formula Student team and by BMKyourproto as a sponsor of the initiative at Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg. As a specialist in the production of electronic prototypes, BMKyourproto handles demanding electronic projects with extremely short lead times – from initial inquiry to a ready-to-use assembly. For StarkStrom Augsburg, various PCBAs were manufactured, including circuit boards for the high-voltage battery system as well as the race car’s main control unit, the processor board. In doing so, HANZA BMK makes an important contribution to the realization of a highly complex development project that provides students with hands-on experience in design, electrical engineering, and teamwork.

“The Formula Student represents commitment, collaborative partnership, and the highest technical standards. These are values that also define our daily work,” emphasizes Matthias Berka, Head of Business Unit Prototyping. “We are very pleased to support the team on this exciting journey and to actively help foster young talent.”

“It is incredibly exciting to bring together the knowledge from my studies and my practical experience at HANZA BMK into the Formula Student. In my role, I work on the vehicle’s core software systems. Precise and high-performance electronics are a key factor in the success of the project,” explains Benjamin Klaric. In addition to his role as a working student in software development at HANZA BMK, he leads the software division within the StarkStrom Augsburg team.

The rollout of “Johann Wolfgang” marks a significant milestone in the current season. In addition to the technical presentation of the vehicle, the event offered insights into the development process and the intensive work behind the scenes.
