BMK is a member of the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact

Through voluntary environmental services, the electronics service provider BMK, is now a qualified member of the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact

What is the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact?

The Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact, founded in 1995, is an agreement between the Bavarian state government and Bavarian industries. It is based on voluntary action, personal responsibility, and cooperation. The goal is to improve the ecological, economic, and social foundations for present and future generations by implementing corporate environmental protection above and beyond the statutory requirements. The pact requires companies to have a high-level of initiative power and experience. Currently 1,523 companies from various industrial sectors are members.

Why was BMK admitted?

BMK provides voluntary services for integrated environmental protection, for increasing energy efficiency as well as for resource conservation and recycling management. For example, when investing in new facilities, great emphasis is placed on the best available technology and options for energy-efficient operations (e.g., automatic standby functions). Requirements for infrastructure modernization to save energy are being pushed forward. Waste management is carried out on a purely component basis and regarding commercial waste, the BMK companies achieve a separate collection rate of up to 97%.

Environmental protection at BMK

With EMAS, the EU's environmental management seal of approval, BMK demonstrates its holistically implemented environmental management system and makes an important contribution to environmental protection. According to the motto “repair instead of dispose”, BMK advises its customers on the resource-efficient handling of electronic components. For this business model, BMK was awarded the Augsburg Future Prize in 2020 and the 1st Bavarian Resource Efficiency Prize in 2021. BMK’s environmental statement is also available to the public.

Dr. Bärbel Götz, Managing Director at BMK, confirms: "The intensification of environment-related legislation sets the legal requirements for more environmental protection. However political laws and bans alone are not enough with the increasingly clear effects of climate change, the further loss of biodiversity and the pressing scarcity of resources. Everyone must do their part to make a difference if any change is going to be made. BMK affirms its responsibly to continuously increase its environmental performance together with employees. partners and suppliers.”

When it gets challenging, we thrive.
